Campaign for USA to hold landmark meeting

Campaign for the United States of Africa, an organization formed to promote human rights and make education accessible to all children, especially those with disabilities, will hold a landmark general meeting on Saturday 10 September 2011 at the Kanifing Estate Community Centre.

The main objective of the meeting is to prepare a document for observer status of the African Commission on Human and People`s Rights, and amendment of the constitution as well as to fill the vacant positions for livelihood project coordinator, education project coordinator and health and property manager.

In an interview with this reporter at The Point offices in Fajara on Friday, the executive director of Campaign for United States of Africa, Thomas Touray, said the USA was established in 2004 to promote unity through human rights as well as to organize legal literacy programmes through the simplification of laws and policies, and projects for women.

According to Mr Touray, his organisation also organises leadership training workshops, adding that  Campaign for USA, in collaboration with Muslim Senior Secondary School, recently organised a workshop on African Charter on Human and People`s Rights.

Mr Touray seized the opportunity to call on all the members of Campaign for USA to come in their large numbers to attend the meeting.
