Burglar jailed with hard labour

Magistrate Dago of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court recently convicted and sentenced one Balla Secka to six months in prison with hard labour, and another jail term of eight months in prison.

 Balla Secka was found liable for the offences of housebreaking and stealing. Both sentences are to run concurrently.

According to the charge sheet on count one, on 30 October 2012, at Bakau Janneh Kunda, in the Kanifing Municipality, the convicted person, Balla Secka, broke into the house of one Yaya Touray with intent to commit a felony, therein to wit stealing.

Count two read that he stole the following items: fiscal cash of D400, DVD player valued at D800, Samsung and Nokia phone valued at D1,450, wrist watch valued at D1,500, one pair of trouser valued at D150 and, ID card and TIN number value unknown, all being the property of the said Yaya Touray.
