The case involving former executive director of the National Drug Enforcement Agency, Ibrahim Bun Sanneh and four others continued yesterday at the Special Criminal Court in
The other accused persons are Karamo Bojang, former deputy director of the agency, Ousman Sanneh, former operations commander of the agency, Seedy Bojang, the agency former accountant and one Marie Sanneh.
The case continued with the cross-examination of the 4th accused, Marie Sanneh, who told the court that as a result of threatening and the beating inflicted on her by NIA officers, she said things against the 1st accused person, Bun Sanneh.
“I was beaten because the NIA officers alleged that I was siding with the 1st accused, Bun. As a result of the torture, I sustained some scars on my face,” she told the court.
She added that she had a medical report to that effect, but it was not tendered in court, adding that nobody wanted to help her to complete the payment of the plea bargain money.
She categorically denied receiving any money from the 1st accused person, and further stated that she had paid the money to the 5th accused person, adding that the diary that was brought by the 5th accused did not concern her, and she had never seen the diary.
“I never appended my signature on the diary of the 5th accused, and the reason why I visited the 1st accused was a personal problem, which had no connection to this case. I have never retrieved the plea bargain monies that I had paid to the NDEA,” she further stated.
Ms Sanneh denied altering her signature and handwriting, and said the amount she paid was D140,000 with the outstanding balance of D10,000.
The case continues.
