Brussels Airlines yesterday presented one air ticket to the Brufut Marathon Run Association (BMRA) at a presentation held at the airline’s office in Senegambia.
The air ticket, according to BMRA officials, would be awarded to the best Gambian female runner in the forthcoming Brufut Marathon Run competition slated for 17 December 2011.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the chairman of BMRA, Ba S. Jabbi, applauded Brussels Airlines for their tireless contribution to the BMRA, saying: “The gesture would go a long way in transforming the annual marathon run into becoming a more recognised competition.”
He used the occasion to call on other companies to emulate Brussels Airlines in rendering support to the BMRA.
The gesture came at a time when the BMRA is intensifying its preparatory programme ahead of next month’s show.
Ward Bonduel, Country Manager of Brussels Airlines in The Gambia, said the gesture was part of their contribution towards the forthcoming annual Brufut run competition, adding that Brussels Airlines would continue to render support to the BMRA in coming years.
Other speakers at the occasion included Bakary Sonko, sales manager of Brussels Airlines, Marie Joof and Jankey Samateh.
