Brufut United have been crowned champions of the 2014-2015 West Coast Regional third division league title to gain automatic promotion to the Gambia Football Federation second division following their 1-all draw with Jambanjelly United in the week twenty-two fixtures played at the Brufut football field on Tuesday.

Brufut United and Jambanjelly United are with 38 points each in twenty-one games, but Brufut United were leading the race on goal difference prior to their Tuesday league title decider, to automatically secure promotion to the second division game.

Brufut United needed only a point against Jambanjelly United to clinch the league title and gain automatic promotion to the second division while Jambanjelly United needed a win against Brufut United to retain their league title and gain automatic promotion to the second tier; thus the game showed a brilliant exhibition of skills and panache, as well as attracted spectators from Brufut and environs.

It was not an easy game as the host Brufut United came into the game to grab a point to lift the West Coast Regional third division league title in order to gain automatic promotion to the second division.

Jambanjelly United, on the other hand, came for the maximum three points to retain their league crown but were reluctant to snatch the maximum three points as the game ended 1-all.

The draw has earned Brufut United the West Coast Regional third division league title and also gained them automatic promotion to the Gambia Football Federation second division.

The draw has earned Jambanjelly United second spot in the West Coast Regional third division.

Jambanjelly will be playing against clubs from Kanifing Municipality and Banjul in the GFF third division triangular qualifiers set for later this month.

The team with the highest number of points will gain promotion to the second division.

Brufut United will receive D25,000 as the league champions and automatic promotion to the GFF second division, according to the West Coast Regional Football Association.
