Brufut finally selects town team after grand final

Brufut has now got a town team after a short-listing was done during its just concluded ward tournament.

The town team is expected to represent the community at both zonal and national competitions.

Selected out of a ten ward-team competition staged in the town, the team setup was disclosed at the end of the zonal competition’s final held at the Brufut Lower Basic School on 7 July 2012. Wullingkama won the final against Sateba B at a penalty shootout.

Pa Ousman Jatta saved Wullingkama during the penalty shootout by leading the opponents by a lone goal. As part of the finalists, Jainaba Camara brought victory for the Brufut Red Cross female team in a game played earlier in day against Brufut football female academy team.

Jainaba Camara secured the goal for her side at the second session of the game to give her team the glory.

At the end of the finals, the winner Wullingkama, were crowned champions with a giant trophy and a cash prize of D2,500, whilst the runners-up went home with D2,000.

Likewise on the female side, the winner, Red Cross female team, went home with a trophy and a cash prize, whilst the runners-up were given a cash prize.

The finals were witnessed by the chairman of the GFA normalization committee, Alhagie O. B. Conateh, Lamin Cham, Abdul Aziz Titao Mendy of the NSC among other delegates.
