British Charity Funds Borehole Project In Manduar

A water borehole project was recently inaugurated at Manduar, Kombo Central Western Region, funded by a British philanthropic body called organisation Utting Foundation The Gambia, in collaboration with Mr. Fernando Mendy, a resident of Manduar.

The charity was set up by Paul and Tracy Utting, a British couple in 2009. The newly constructed water borehole facility is funded with support from volunteers.

Speaking at the opening of the borehole project, Mr. Fernando Mendy said numerous projects, which includes a programme for the sick, support the education of children were initiated and brought to fruition through the efforts of the British couple.

In a related gesture, the British philanthropist had donated stationeries to three schools, including Catholic Mission Nursery and Tambasansang Nursery School.

As part of activities marking the official opening of the borehole project, an impressive welcoming song was composed for the British couple and their children.

A Bugarabu group from Brikama Santo-su provided cultural entertainment to the gathering.
