Brikama United lash Wallidan to bounce back in GFF 1st Division

West Coast Region giants Brikama United on Wednesday defeated blue boys Wallidan 3-1 in the week-two fixtures to bounce back in the 2013-2014 Gambia Football Federation division one league played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium.

Brikama United and Wallidan both came into the game with zero point after losing their opening fixtures in the new season at the weekend.

Brikama United lost at home to Gamtel 3-2 at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium on Sunday, whilst Wallidan also lost to Bakau United 1-0 at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium on the same day.

Both sides came into the game with the objective of bagging the maximum points to keep their title hopes alive and they launched series of goal-scoring opportunities at each other but it was Brikama United who were able to utilize their chances and notched in three astonishing goals to snatch the vital three points.

Wallidan managed to hit one, which eventually proved to be a consolation goal for them.

The defeat has left Wallidan at the bottom of the country’s premier tier league table with zero point in two outings, while Brikama United are with 3 points in two games.

Hawks beat Samger 1-0 at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium, and the defeat has put Samger at 2nd position from bottom on the league table with zero point in two games.

Reigning league champions Steve Biko drew 0-0 with Interior at the Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda.

Armed Forces drew also 0-0 with Bakau United at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium on the same day.

In the other scores, Gamtel drew 0-0 with Gambia Ports Authority at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium on Tuesday, while Banjul United drew also 0-0 with Real De Banjul in the all-Banjul derby game played at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium on the same day.
