Testifying, Bekai Bojang told the court that he is a police officer with the rank of Chief Inspector attached to the criminal record office and scientific support unit.
He said between 24 and 25 April 2012, he was assigned by his commissioner to go and verify a fingerprint of the accused person.
According to him, there weretwo fingerprints, one from the accused and the second was taken from the scene of the crime, adding that during the comparison of the two fingerprints, he found that the two fingerprints were from one pattern.
Officer Bojang further adduced that he took the fingerprints back to his commissioner and told him that the fingerprints taken from the scene and the accused’s were the same.
He said his commissioner also went through the fingerprints and he confirmed them to be the same.
Bojang went on to explain the procedures taken to verify the fingerprints, adding that he later made a report and showed it to his commissioner.
He added that there was another document prepared apart from the comparison document.
The case was then adjourned till 24 September 2012, for defence.
