Kinderdorf
Bottrop Technical Senior Secondary School has retained the 2020 national
inter-schools athletics championship title held at the Independence Stadium in
Bakau on Sunday.
The
annual competition bankrolled by Gambia Teachers Union Cooperative Credit Union
(GTUCCU) brought together seventy schools and attracted spectators from Greater
Banjul and its environs.
Bottrop
snatched 303 points to retain their crown; Bakoteh Senior Secondary School came
second with 267 points and Nusrat Senior Secondary School finished third with
204 points. Mahaad Senior Secondary School came fourth with 165 points.
As champions, Bottrop went home with a giant
trophy, gold medals and cash prize of D100, 000, Bakoteh Senior Secondary
School received silver medals and cash prize of D50.000 as the runners-up.
They
also also received D10, 000 as the best fans while Nusrat Senior Secondary
School received bronze medals and cash prize of D25, 000 as third-place holder.
In
the Upper Basic category, Latrikunda Sabiji alias (Plasas) retained their
crowned for the third time in row after bagging 334 points. Presentation came
second with 236 points and Essau came second with 140 points while Tallinding
finished fourth with 135 points.
The
winner went home with giant trophy, gold medals and a cash prize of D50, 000
while Presentation received silver medals and a cash prize of D25, 000. Barra
and Essau 140 points were decorated with bronze and cash prize of D15, 000
each.
