Yunus Memorial Nursery School in Bundung recently received their sponsors, Louisa Wiersma and Tanja Wiersma, mother and daughter, from Holland.

The sponsors have been able to invaluably contribute to the development of education in the country by rebuilding the nursery school and continue to donate to it educational materials.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the school grounds, Louisa Wiersma, the mother, said they started coming to The Gambia last year.

She said they were motivated to help the school because of the love they have for the people of The Gambia and of the belief that blessed is the hand that giveth.

She said helping people about their education is very important as she comes from a family of teachers and has worked as a teacher in her country.

According to her she used to collect monies from her friends, neighbours, and family members when coming to The Gambia only to help the Gambian students, and she did choose the said school because there are  good teachers and seriousstudents.

Madam Wiersma assured the gathering that they would continue to work with the school as partners in development.

For his part, the principal of the school, Alieu Badara Njie, congratulated the sponsors and thanked them for their gesture noting that parents “are now motivated” to bring their children to the school because of the environment conducive for learning that has been created in the school.

Amadou Bayo, a teacher, also expressed happiness about the donors and thanked them, saying they will continue to render good work  and service at the school and try to always do their best since that was the first time the school was having such sponsors, whom they cherish so dearly.

Speaking on behalf of the parents of the students of the school, Fatim Tunkara thanked the sponsors for their support to the school and the teachers for their hard work.
