As part of her contribution to the promotion of education and sport in The Gambia, Jackie Learmontch, a British philanthropist, with the support of two football clubs in the UK, recently donated football materials to a Latrikunda football club.

The donation was part of Jackie’s effort at remembering the late Bubaccarr Camara, who died in an accident.

Jackie and her late friend Baboucarr Camara are understood to have enjoyed a cordial relationship during their time together and the friend in deed thought it wise to remember him in such a great manner.

Speaking to Pointsport in a recent interview with this reporter at the Sun Beach Hotel in Bakau, Jackie Learmontch pointed out that she has decided to switch attention to the promotion of sport after having done with giving some support to schools.

“We need to gather some funds for the establishment of a football field, which is my biggest priority at the moment,” said Jackie, who commended two football teams in the UK, Aberdeen FC and Dundee United, for their support towards the programme.

Dawda Jobe, team manager, also used the platform to thank Jackie for the support she has been giving them in sport and education over the years.

He said they have three categories of teams in Latrikunda with the aim of creating a youthful setup.
Doctor Fatty, head coach of the team, also commended Jackie and her people for their “wonderful support”.
