The American International University West Africa on Tuesday marked the white coat celebration, which is the latest development of the university that coincided with the visit of the Minister of Higher Education Research Science and Technology, held at the university grounds along Kairaba Avenue.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Denesh Sukla, the founder of the university, who noted that they have a long way to go, said the institution can only be good if they have a good faculty, students and administration.

He said the white coat celebration is basically a ceremony where they trust students to take up ethics of the medical profession.

While urging them to keep in mind that they have to keep on studying, he announced their acceptance as a medical institution by the European Medical Institution.

Dr. Sukla said he would ensure they work hard to become professionals that everyone can be proud of.

He said all the credits go to President Yahya Jammeh, as according to him, without his support nothing would be possible.

He also announced that by next month they would start building a unique university that would be a pride to all.

While stating that medicine is not a magic but a science, he said, medical students need to know biology, mathematics and physiology.

For his part, Dr. Adama Sallah, a medical practitioner, said the white coat ceremony, which began in America has now spread all over the world.

Stating that the white coat ceremony is the transmission from clinical to preclinical stages, he said, some of the students have been wearing their normal clothes.
