Boost for Gambia Scout Association

St. George’s Scout Association in Denmark recently donated a 40-foot container to the Gambia Scout Association at a presentation ceremony held at Little Trees Skills Centre in Bakoteh.

The donated items are kitchen equipment, settees, pallet sewing machines, sewing tables, pump for well, sport cloths, level switch, furniture, mattresses, bedside tables, and hospital equipment.

The beneficiaries included Girls Guide Skills Centre in Soma, Soma Scout Skills Centre, Badin Alnur Alhagie Fatty Arabic School, National Disaster Agency, Sanyang Scout Skills Centre, Tampoto Arabic School, and Little Trees Skills Centre.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Ousainou Foon, operation director of the project, said he was very glad to hand over the valuable materials on behalf of their Danish partners.

He urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the items donated to them.

Pa Ousman Semega Janneh, the secretary general of the Gambia Borden Powel International Scout Guide Fellowship, said the donation marks another milestone for them. He also urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the items.

A representative from the National Disaster Agency, Sanu Jagne, commended the donors for the invaluable gesture.

“This is not the first time for us to receive this kind of gesture from the Gambia Scout Association and their partners,” she said, promising the donors that the items will be well maintained.

Amat Sowe, Finance Commissioner of the Gambia Scout Association, delivered the vote of thanks.
