Blue Star on Thursday continued to limp in the 2016-2017 Gambia Football Federation second division league following their 1-0 defeat to league leaders Red Hawks in the week-four fixtures played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.
Red
Hawks came into the game with maximum 9 points after winning their three
opening league fixtures prior to their 1-0 win over Blue Star, who are with
zero point after losing their three opening fixtures before their 1-0 defeat to
league leaders Red Hawks.
The
victory was Red Hawks’ fourth straight win in the second tier after winning
their four league fixtures.
The
defeat was Blue Star’s fourth consecutive defeat in the country’s second tier
after losing their previous league fixtures since the start of the league last
month.
Brufut
United beat relegated side Banjul United 4-3 at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium
to maintain their unbeaten run in the second tier.
Elsewhere,
relegated side Wallidan lost to Lions of Banjul 1-0 in the all-Banjul derby
fixtures at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium on the same day.
Red
Hawks are still leading the race with maximum 12 points in four league games
and Brufut United are with 8 points in four league fixtures.
Lions
of Banjul are with 7 points in four league fixtures and Banjul United 5 points
in four league fixtures.
Wallidan
are with 4 points in four league fixtures, while Blue Star are still struggling
in the second tier with zero point in four league fixtures.
