Janneh of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court Wednesday convicted and sentenced one
Sainabou Njie, a bank cashier, to a fine of D10,000 in default to serve nine
months in prison.
Sainabou Njie, who was found liable for stealing by clerk, was also ordered to compensate the complainant a sum of D109,200 in default to serve two years in prison.
The charge sheet read in court stated that the accused, Sainabou Njie, some time in February 2012, in the Kanifing Municipality, being an employee of Ecobank, and by virtue of her position as a cashier at the said bank, received cash payment of D109,200 from SN Brussels Airline and she fraudulently diverted the said sum.
