Alleged assault case reaches court

One Alhagie Bah was yesterday arraigned before Magistrate Jobarteh of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court, charged with assault with intent to steal.

The particulars of offence on count one stated that the accused, Alhagie Bah, on 16 July 2013, at the Brikama Market, West Coast Region, assaulted one Awa Gibba with a razor blade with intent to steal her Sony Ericson mobile phone valued at D1,500, being the property of Awa Gibba.

Count two stated that the accused, Alhagie Bah, on the same date and place, assaulted one Awa Gibba with a razor blade with intent to steal her bag valued at D200, being the property of the said Awa Gibba.

Count three indicated that the accused, Alhagie Bah, on the same date and place, assaulted one Awa Gibba with a razor blade with intent to steal her wallet valued at D150, being the property of the said Awa Gibba.

He denied the charge and was granted court bail of D50,000 with two Gambian sureties, who should each deposit a valid ID card with the court’s registrar.

The case was adjourned till 25 September 2013.
