'Foundation Support and Build Up Gambia', a Holland-based charity, is currently fencing the Banjulinding Health Centre. The foundation would provide the funds whilst the community provides the labour. The foundation whose area of intervention in The Gambia covers such diverse fields as education and health, last year donated a heavy duty generator and container full of medical equipment to the Banjulinding Health Centre. It is also giving support to many schools across the country.

Speaking to this reporter at the Banjulinding Health Centre over the weekend, Maarten Poortuliet of the foundation said his foundation is formed with the view to help The Gambia in its development pursuit.

He revealed that the foundation, in the very near future, would partake in construction of water wells across the country and would also co-operate with Reliance Financial Services to help in the area of micro business development and financing and community outgrowth. He also said that after the fencing they would construct another ward and quarters at the health facility.

For his part, Sheriffo Colley, the Alkalo of Banjulinding village, expressed gratification for the support the foundation has been giving to the health centre over time. He remarked that he was gratified to see the foundation with such an effort helping The Gambia in its development strides, and called on other organisations to emulate the Foundation.
