Banjul United share spoils with Gunjur United in GFA 2nd Division

Banjul United have shared points with Gunjur United in the ongoing Gambia Football Association’s second division league after their 1-1 draw in the Week 7 fixtures played at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium at the weekend.

Banjul United, who are yet to snatch a victory in the new season, came into the game with 6 points with the intention of collecting the maximum points against Gunjur United, as well as keep their hopes of gaining promotion to the first division, next season.

Banjul United opened the score through winger Abubakarr Saidy in the 20th minute of the game from a brilliant header to give his side the lead.

Gunjur United levelled the score through substitute aspiring young midfielder Musa Sonko in the 74th minute of the game from a spectacular close range strike to cancel out Abubakarr Saidy’s 20th minute opener, thus the game ended 1-1.

Gunjur United have now secured 9 points in seven outings, while Banjul United have collected 7 points in six games with a game in hand against Interior.

In a similar development, Bakau giants Steve Biko were held to a goalless draw by struggling Serrekunda United in their re-scheduled Week13 fixtures in the GFA division one league played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Friday.

Steve Biko have collected 22 points in seventeen games, while Serrekunda United have secured 15 points in fifteen games with a game in hand against Gamtel.
