Banjul United defeated Farato Academy by 3-1 in the ongoing Gambia Football Association (GFA) Third Division Triangular Tournament last Monday 11th January 2010, at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium, which will determine the two teams to make it to the 2009-10 Gambia Football Association (GFA) Second Division League.
Banjul United opened the scoreline through Saihou Jallow in the 11th minute of the game.
Moments later Banjul United found themselves 3-0 ahead when Alagie Sarr and Ousman Secka netted the second and third goals in the 21st and 37th minute of the game, thus the first half ended 3-0 in favour of Banjul United.
As action resumed in the second period of the game, Farato Academy scored their consolation goal through Omar Conteh from a penalty shot after Amadou Kargbo made a hand ball inside Banjul United's eighteen yard box in the 83rd minute of the game.
Banjul United will now lock horns with Flamemins FC on Thursday 14th January 2010, at the Brikama Mini-stadium.
Farato Academy will battle it out with Flamemins FC in the final game of the tournament on Sunday 17th January 2010, at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
