Banjul
United will rub shoulders with Lions of Banjul in the all- Banjul fixtures of
the 2016-2017 Gambia Football Federation second division league today 6 January
2017, at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium.
Banjul
United, who were demoted to the second tier
last season after dismal performance in the top flight last, are with 5
points, and will stretch their muscles up to overcome Lions of Banjul to bounce
back in the second tier after losing to Bakau United 2-1 in their last outing
before Christmas and New Year’s break.
Lions
of Banjul are joint second with Fortune FC in the second tier with 12 points
each in five league matches. They will be eyeing to win Banjul United to
maintain pressures on league leaders Red Hawks, who have secured 13 points in
six league fixtures.
Serrekunda
East Bi will face Wallidan at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium. The Serrekunda
based outfit are not far from the danger with 5 points in six league matches,
and will compete to beat Wallidan to improve their position in the league.
Wallidan
are fourth place in the second tier with 10 points in six league games three
points behind league leaders Red Hawks, two points behind second and third
spots Lions of Banjul and Fortune FC with 12 points each in six league outings.
The
blue boys need a win against Serrekunda East Bi to close the gap on league
leaders Red Hawks and also fancy their hopes returning to the top flight next
season.
Elsewhere,
the newly-promoted side Fortune FC will battle it out with Bakau United at the
Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium on the same day.
Fortune
FC are joint second in the second tier with Lions of Banjul with 12 points each
in six league games, and will be determined to beat Bakau United to keep
pressure on league leaders Red Hawks.
Bakau
United, on the other hand, are near relegation zone with 5 points in six league
matches and will fight hard to defeat Fortune FC to improve their position in
the second tier.
