Bai Jammeh is New APRC Latri Kunda Sabiji Ward Chairman

Delegates from all the seven sub-wards in Latri Kunda Sabiji Ward in the Kanifing Municipality on Sunday 7th June 2009 elected Mr. Bai Jammeh as the new APRC Ward Chairman.

The election was held at Latri Kunda Sabiji Lower Basic School.

According to officials, Mr. Jammeh defeated the incumbent Alhagie Yerro Njie with a landslide victory.

Speaking at the occasion, Pa Ousman Fatty, Latri Kunda Sabiji Ward Councillor, who presided over the voting, described the election as free, fair and transparent.

He called on the out-going and incoming committees to remain united and work together for the interest of APRC and the Gambia as a whole.

In his acceptance speech, Chairman-elect Bai Jammeh commended the delegates for the confidence bestowed on him by voting him into office.

Mr. Jammeh called on the people of the area to unite and join President Jammeh and the APRC party.

For her part, the newly elected Vice-Chairperson, Haddy Gibba thanked the delegates for voting her into office.

She stressed that she was in the APRC since 1994, but had never thought of becoming a leader for the party in her locality.

Talibo Kongira, the new Ward Mobiliser, spoke on the need for people of the area to remain united and work together to maintain and strengthen the support-base of the party in the area.

The Alkalo of Latri Kunda, Master Landing B. Jatta, hailed the way and manner the election was conducted.

Other newly elected members include Ebrima Fofana as the Secretary, Kumba Kaw as the Women Mobiliser, while the position of Treasurer goes to Siaka Camara.
