4th Witness Testifies in RVTH Stolen Drugs Case

The trial of two brothers, Ebrima Jeng and Mbye Jeng, who are standing trial for allegedly receiving stolen drugs at the RVTH,  yesterday resumed at the Banjul Magistrates' Court before Principal Magistrate Edrissa Mbai.

The yesterday proceedings saw the testimony of the prosecution 4th witness, Ebrahim Jaiteh, a pharmacy technician at the RVTH.

In his testimony Mr. Jaiteh told the court that some time on the 6th of April 2009 he was assigned by one Mr. Marenah to carry out the stocktaking exercise at the stores. He said after carrying out the exercise, the following morning on 7th of April 2009, he wrote a written report to him. He adduced that after the exercise he was informed that there were suspects over stolen drugs and were intercepted by the police at the police heaquaters in Banjul.

The accused persons have since maintained their innocence over the allegations.

The case was adjourned to 22nd June 2009.
