Chief
executive officer of Brikama Area Council Friday led a delegation comprising of
ward councilors, staff, regional health directorate officials and the Red Cross
to border posts within West Coast Region to access and get first-hand
information on the state of the region’s preparedness against the COVID-19
pandemic.
Speaking
at Giboroh, Dimbaya and Darsilameh border posts, Modou Jonga said the visit was
necessitated by the concern of his office to collaborate with the Regional
Health Directorate to support and strengthen existing facilities mounted at the
border posts for proper and effective screening of people entering the country
through those boarders.
While
underscoring the importance of strategic and multi-sectoral approach to boost
the level of preparedness in the region, CEO Jonga commended the efforts of the
security forces and Red Cross volunteers in their efforts to keep the country
free from coronavirus.
He
called on the Regional Health Directorate to provide a report on the required
logistics to enable the earnest intervention of the council.
