Assault case continues

One Sarjo Khan, accused of assault causing grievous bodily harm, recently continued his testimony under cross-examination before Magistrate Omar Jabang of the Bundung Magistrates’ Court.

The accused, when put to him by the prosecutor that he assaulted the complainant with a wooden stick, he replied that when the complainant attempted to stab him with a broken bottle, he also smashed the complainant with the wooden stick to avoid being stabbed by the complainant, fearing that the complainant would have stabbed him.

Asked by the prosecutor whether he ran to Wellingara Police Station to report the complainant for the act, the accused replied that even if he had gone to the police station, the police would not act, because they knew what type of person the complainant is.

The accused further stated that he was not living in the compound he used to live, because when he was in prison, his landlord in Wellingara took out his belongings from his house, and since then, he was not occupying that house anymore.

The case was adjourned till 2 September 2014.
