Former Scorpions striker, Assan Jatta returned to Nawettan football for the first time in three years.

The prolific-creative forward guided Unique FM to an emphatic two-one win over Mamakoto, after scoring the opening goal in his first Nawettan match since 2006, as the Bakau New Town youngster's spectacular start to the summer championship continues to attract spectators who've always proven instrumental for their team, due to their tireless efforts in supporting the team in its efforts to put an end to its 9 years trophy drought.

Bierhoff's presence is a moral boaster for Unique FM, because his contribution will surely help us in our strive to achieve our first major Nawettan trophy since 2000, a fan told this reporter on Wednesday.

Despite his lack of fitness and playing action, Bierhoff as he is affectionately called, made his presence felt when he dribbled passed Magadan backline to tap in the opener before substitute Buba Drammeh, A.K.A(Freh) extended Unique FM's lead to confirm a 2-1 win against a side that is struggling to progress to the next stage of the summer championship.

Bierhoff it could be recalled made his first Nawettan debut with Vietnam Border as far back in 1999, the club that has brought the best out of former Steve Biko goal magician before earning a promotion to the Gambia national U-17 team, where he formed an unforgettable partnership with strike partner and a friend, Arthur Gomez.

Assan 24 joined SK Lierse from Steve Biko, where he signed a two-year professional contract with his comrade, Mustapha, in 2006.

Bierhoff who also has many national caps under his belt was a popular figure when he put pen to paper on a two-year professional contract with Mustapha Jarju, alias Toubabo, but later struggled to hold down a regular first team place in the greater part of his Lierse contract. As a result, he was released by the Belgian Division One outfit in 2008, while Toubabo went ahead to establish himself as a popular figure in the team before being sold to FC Mons in the Belgium First Division.
