The Brikama Magistrates' Court recently convicted and sentenced one Edrisa Jallow to two years imprisonment for assault causing actual bodily harm.
The sentence was administered by Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh following the accused person's own plea of guilt to the offence.
According to the facts as narrated by the police prosecutor Clp Kinteh, it happened on the 18th May 2008 at Brufut village when the convict Edrissa Jallow entered the Bakery shop of the complainant Korka Jallow and made away with some loaves of bread. He said when the complainant was informed that the accused was nearby the shop the accused took a bottle and stabbed the complainant. He added that the accused was arrested and taken to old Yundum Police station, while the complainant was taken to Brufut Health Centre where he was treated and discharged.
He was subsequently sentenced to 2 years imprisonment with hard labour.
