Armed Forces FC last Sunday defeated the defending champions, the Gambia Immigration Department FC 1-0 in the female final of the third edition of the National Inter-Departmental Sports Association (NISA), sponsored by the former Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Fatoumata Jahumpa-Ceesay.
The kick-off of the female final which was held at the Independence Stadium was taken by Hon. Fatoumata Jahumpa-Ceesay, former Speaker of the National Assembly.
Sireh Jammeh scored the only goal of the game in the 58th minute to guide Armed Forces to their laurel.
Armed Forces went a ten-woman down in the 61st minute of the game when Salley J. Jarju was sent off for a second bookable offence.
The Khaki girls, Armed Forces went home with a trophy and a cash prize of D6, 000, while the runners-up Immigration FC received a consolation prize of D3, 000.
Speaking to Pointsport shortly after the game, the Head Coach of Immigration FC, Fatou Jammeh, expressed delight, and noted that her team did very well from the beginning of the competition to the final, before loosing to Armed Forces.
Sheikh Tijan Secka, the Head Coach of Armed Forces FC, has stated that his team is coming to defend their title in the next tournament, adding that the final was an easy game for them. As he put it, they had prepared well both mentally and physically.
