The Gambia Immigration Department defeated Kanifing Municipal Council FC 2-0 in the opening game of the eight edition of the National Inter-Departmental Sports Association Football (NISA) Tournament, held at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

Malang I. Bojang and Alagie Jarju scored Immigration FC's goals in the 82nd and 86th minute of the game, respectively to complete a 2-nil score line.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the tournament, the newly elected President of the National Inter-Departmental Sports Association (NISA), Buba Sanyang, said "it is my wish to kindly inform you that NISA as a body have dedicated this year’s championship to our dear leader who is none other than the President of the Republic of the Gambia, coupled with his contribution to sports development in The Gambia, among other things."

Sanyang further thanked all those who have honoured their invitation, as well as those who donated or sponsored the NISA football tournament.

He further seized the opportunity to appeal through heads of member companies for financial support in a bid to address the needs and aspirations of NISA, given the fact that the organisation is currently encountering financial constraints.

Speaking to reporters shortly after the game, the Head Coach of Immigration FC, Muhammed Fatty said they had prepared well to win any of their games.

Mustapha Danso, the Head Coach of KMC promised the Mayor of KMC that they would win the trophy this year.
