Babucarr Darboe was alleged to have stolen from the dwelling house of the complainant, Yaya Touray.
Testifying, the first prosecution witness (PW1), Yaya Touray, who claimed to be a gardener, informed the court that on the said day, as she was sleeping in her house, she saw the accused hiding in front of her bed near the drawer with a torch-light, but then the light was on in the house.
She saw the accused looking inside her drawer, she said, stating that she wailed because she was scared, and she did not expect the accused there.
“The accused took the handbag of my husband and ran away with it. I chased the accused for some distance and I stopped because of my condition,” she explained.
She said the accused was further chased by the neighbour who apprehended him with the bag he stole, and was taken to the Banjulinding Police Station.
She added that she went to the Banjulinding Police Station to give a statement, which she identified as the statement in court.
The case continues.
