One Sulayman Jallow, a rape suspect, has told the High Court in Banjul that he was framed by the victim’s parents.
The suspect, Sulayman Jallow, made this claim whilst giving his defence testimony before the High Court in Banjul, presided over by Justice Abdulahi Mikailu.
He adduced that he was framed by the victim’s mother as a ploy not to pay him what she “owes” him.
The accused then produced an exercise book where he made entries on the names of people and the amount owed.
An application was subsequently made for the said book to be admitted as an exhibit, but the DDPP raised an objection to the admissibility of the book.
At that juncture, the presiding judge, Justice Abdulahi Mikailu, adjourned the case till 21 July 2014, for ruling and continuation of the accused’s evidence-in-chief
The particulars of the said offence stated that the alleged incident happened on 12 February 2014, at Sukuta Nema, Kombo North District of the West Coast Region, when the suspect unlawfully had carnal knowledge of a girl without her consent, the charge the suspect denied.
