Alleged rape case continues

The alleged rape case involving one Bakary Sambou continued yesterday at the Special Criminal Court in Banjul before Justice Emmanuel Nkea.

The case continued with the evidence of the fifth prosecution witness (PW5), Ndey Fatou Suwarreh.

PW5 told the court she lived in Brikama Town, West Coast Region, and she knew both the victim and the accused, Bakary Sambou.

I cannot remember the date but on a certain day, as I was sitting at home, I had a call that I should go to Coastal Road. Upon my arrival at Coastal Road, I was informed that the victim was pregnant and it was the accused,” she said.

She added that the victim was called upon, as well as the accused person and his wife and when the victim was asked as to who impregnated her, she said she was impregnated by the accused person.

She further adduced that the whole family discussed about the matter with the accused but the accused insisted that he did no impregnate the victim.

We then took the victim to the police and reported the matter there. It was the police who took the matter to the child welfare,” she narrated.

The case continues.
