Alleged NIA Murder Case Set for Ruling

After four years of prolonged trial, the NIA murder case involving Victor Gomez and John Gomez has now been set for ruling on the 30th April 2009 before Justice Ngui Mboob-Janneh of the Brikama High Court.

The accused persons, Victor Gomez and John Gomez were alleged to have murdered one Abibou Gibba, an NIA officer on or about the 23rd January 2004 at Brikama Drimokulong in Western Region. They have all denied the charge and were since then remanded at Mile 2 Central Prison pending the outcome of the case.

They were last Thursday 12th March 2009 arraigned at the Brikama High Court before Justice Ngui Mboob-Janneh for briefing.

On that particular day, State counsel N.B Jones said he wished to adopt the brief file of the 1st accused person on the 2nd June 2008 for no case submission and that of the 2nd accused file on the 28th November 2008.

In reply, Presiding Judge Ngui Mboob-Janneh ruled: "the brief of the 1st and 2nd accused persons are hereby deemed properly filed". The case was at that point adjourned to 30th April 2009 for ruling.
