One Edward Jatta recently testified under cross-examination in the murder case involving one Muhammed Sonko, at the Banjul High Court before Justice M. Abdoullah.
Jatta, under cross-examination, told the court that he knew the deceased, Pa David Demba, and he also used to see the accused person prior to the incident.
Sometimes he spent the night with the deceased, he said, denying that he and the deceased had ever jointly assaulted the accused.
Jatta further told the court that he was not at the scene when the fight started, adding that at the scene he met Jainaba Manneh, who told him to assist her in separating the accused and the deceased.
He added that at the time he arrived at the scene, it was the accused who was beating the deceased, stating that when the accused beat him (the witness), he revenged by giving him a blow on his mouth.
When the deceased fell down, he succeeded in taking the deceased to the house of the deceased, where they locked themselves and later went to launch a complaint to the police station in London Corner.
The case continues.
