Alleged motor engine thief arraigned

A man was recently arraigned at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Lamin George for allegedly stealing a motor vehicle engine.

Yankuba Sawaneh pleaded not guilty to the charge and was subsequently granted court bail in the sum of D30,000 with a Gambian surety, who must deposit a national ID card.

According to the charge sheet, on 23 November 2010, at Dippa Kunda in the Kanifing Municipality, the accused, Yankuba Sawaneh, stole a pathfinder motor vehicle engine valued at D14,000, being the property of one Modou Njie.

The case was adjourned till 13 December 2010.
