Alleged Fraud Case Proceeds

Kiney Nyan, a resident of Serrekunda recently testified as prosecution witness in the ongoing criminal trial involving one Dawda Manneh who is charged with obtaining money by false pretence before His Worship Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbake of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court.

Adducing evidence, Kiney Nyan told the court that, she is a business woman and she recognized the accused person and that she could recall the 9th January 2009.

She informed the court that the accused called her mother while passing and told her that he the [accused] had two rooms for rent. She added that in response the complainant asked the accused the amount for rent and he replied that it was D3000 with two months advance payment. She said 15 days later the accused called the attention that the rooms are still there and she paid the accused two months rent in advance.

Further testifying, she maintained that the complainant demanded the keys of the room from the accused but he replied that they want to complete the painting. She added that later she went with the complainant to the accused's residence and they were told that he had traveled to Casamance, stating that the matter was reported to Serrekunda police station.
