The criminal trial of obtaining money by false pretence involving one Babucarr Khan continued recently at the Kanifing Magistrates' Court before Magistrate Tabally.

Testifying under cross-examination, the accused, Babucarr Khan, revealed that he was a scout member and Scout Commissioner.

He said he knew one Lamin S. Camara, as the International commissioner since he (the accused) was not an executive member.

According to him, the said Lamin S. Camara was now out of the country's jurisdiction and he is no longer a member, adding that he (the accused) is still an executive member of the scout association.

When quizzed as to whether there was a scout jamboree between 2007 and 2008, the accused replied in the affirmative, adding that he could recall one held in Denmark.

He denied the allegation that there was a high registration for participation in the event, while further refuting the claim that the International Commissioner tasked him (accused) to disseminate the information of registration.

Still under cross-examination, he denied there were monies collected from people to register, adding that he did not know how many people were registering at any of the scout jamborees held.

When further put to him by the prosecutor that it was him (the accused) that took people to register for the programme, he replied in the negative.

"I did not know who collected money from people because payment was not done in my presence," he added.

He also denied defrauding anyone or collecting money from people.

Hearing was adjourned till 15 June 2011.
