Alleged Fraud Case Continues

The criminal trial involving one Alieu Badou John of Banjul is currently continuing at the Kanifing Magistrates' Court before Senior Magistrate Sainabou Wadda-Ceesay.

Testifying, PW1 Alagie M.B Jagne, told the court that he recognised the accused Alieu Badou John and he can recall some time in August 2007 when he got a call from a European man whose name he could not remember informing that they should meet at Brufut junction. He revealed that when they met the European man showed him an invoice containing his name and the accused's mobile phone number. He added that upon his request the European man gave him the invoice which he then took to the accused of which the accused confirmed that he used his (PW1) company's name to have goods from wynoc which was his competitor at the ( Gambia Groundnut Corporation).

PW1 further adduced that the accused promised him that he would pay the whole amount as soon as he got through with the (GGC), which he failed to do. He said wynoc sent him a warning letter and later took him to Bundung Magistrates' Court where he (PW1) was found liable and his compound was at stake. He added that he later reported the matter to Banjul Police Station.

The case was at length adjourned until 9th February 2009.
