The accused, Muhammed Barry, denied the charge and was granted court bail of D1,500 with a Gambian surety who must deposit an ID card.
The charge sheet read that on 6 October 2014, at Dippa Kunda in the Kanifing Municipality, he assaulted one Micheal Mendy by the collar, tearing his T-shirt, and thereby committed an offence.
The case was adjourned to 21 October 2014, for hearing.
