Ahlul
Beit Islamic Organization last Monday donated some food items to patients at
the Serekunda General Hospital, as part of its objective to support less
privileged people in society.
The
items, geared towards supporting needy patients at the hospital, were received
by the public relations officer on behalf of the management and chief executive
officer of the hospital.
Speaking
at the presentation, Imam Rabih Fiarhat, team leader of the Beit Islamic
Organization, was delighted at the opportunity to render such support to
patients at the hospital.
He
said his organization, whose objective is to reach out to the poor in society,
had been assisting needy people for the past 12 years.
He
said throughout the Ramadan the organization had been given out food items
among other stuffs to needy people in the communities, and “the mosques are not
an exception”.
He
thanked the management of SK Hospital for according them a befitting welcome to
donate the food items to the hospital.
He
also prayed for the country for more peace and tranquility and applauded
President Yahya Jammeh for developing The Gambia.
In
receiving the items on behalf of the management of the SK General Hospital,
public relations officer Alieu Badjie thanked the donors for the support,
saying the occasion marked another important day for the hospital, especially
for the patients.
“We
are very much grateful to receive this gesture from Beit Islamic organization,”
he added.
“Giving
this kind of gesture is a way of complementing the efforts of the hospital and
families of patients at the hospital.”
He
also thanked the donors on behalf of the minister of Health and Social Welfare
for the invaluable gesture.
He
as well appealed to other associations and philanthropists to render more
assistance to the hospital.
