Accused cautioned, discharged

Magistrate Drammeh of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court recently cautioned and discharged one George Gomez after changing his plea from not guilty to guilty.

According to the charge sheet, Mr. George Gomez, in the month of January at Total Oil Company Ltd, being employed as a lubricant supervisor stole 200 litres of diesel oil, valued at D11, 000.

Narrating the facts of the case, Police Prosecutor Inspector Touray told the court that it happened on 9th March 2010, when one Ebrima Jammeh, a security guard reported a theft case at the Kanifing Police Station.

Upon receiving the report, he said, an investigation was mounted during which it was discovered that, the accused person had taken 200 litres, amounting to D11, 000.

This, he said, was confirmed by the accused himself and the money recovered from him. Consequently, he said the accused was cautioned and charged with the offence committed.
