A driver was recently arraigned before Magistrate Babucarr Secka of the Brikama Magistrates' Court, charged with rash and negligent act, causing death.
Ali Gaye pleaded not guilty of the charge and was subsequently granted bail of D100,000 with a Gambian surety.
The charge sheet stated that on 9 March 2011, at Sanyang Village, West Coast Region, the defendant, Ali Gaye, drove a motor vehicle with registration number BJL 1425E, in a rash and negligent manner, thereby caused the death of one Salieu Jarra.
The case was adjourned till 14 April 2011, to enable the prosecution send the case file to the Attorney General's Chamber for legal advice.
