The case involving Jerreh Jarju and Samba Camara could not proceed on Wednesday at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court.
When the case was called, the prosecuting officer, Chief Inspector Touray, applied for an adjournment on the grounds that his witness had called to inform him that he could not make it to the court as he was attending a funeral.
This was not objected to by the defence counsel.
However, the presiding magistrate warned the prosecutor to make his witness available on the next adjournment date.
It would be recalled that the accused persons are standing trial on charges of official corruption, public officers receiving properties to show favour, abuse of office, conspiracy to commit misdemeanors and destroying evidence.
The case was at length adjourned till 2 April 2012.
