Absconded Gambian wife allegedly stole from British husband

Gambian lady Jami Cole, who is married to a British national, was recently charged in absentia before Magistrate Kijera of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court with stealing.

Prosecutors alleged that Musa Jassey and Jami Cole, who is at large, on 22 January 2015 at No.15 Oasis Apartment in the Kanifing Municpality, stole the following: physical cash of D165,000; 2,500 Euros equivalent to D127,500; 380 pounds sterling equivalent to D26,980; 20,000 CFA equivalent to D1,560; one Nokia phone of value unknown; one I-phone valued at D50,000, all totaling D371,040.

The said property, according to the prosecutors, belong to one Fin Barr Michael O’Callaghan, husband of Jami Cole.

Musa Jassey pleaded not guilty.

They were granted bail of D450,000 with two Gambian sureties who should swear to an affidavit of means, and they should also deposit their ID cards.

Chief Inspector Fadera represented the IGP.

The case continues.
