A Senegalese In Alleged One Million CFA Theft

A man identified as Fallu Jagne, a Senegalese national was recently arraigned at the Kanifing Magistrates' Court on a criminal charge of theft after he was alleged to have stolen an amount of one million CFA, a charge he denied.

The court was told that on 16th September 2009, at City Pub in Dippa-Kunda, the accused Fallu Jagne stole from one Sanna Kah, an amount of one million CFA.

Testifying as the first witness for the prosecution, one Kebba Bah, a Police Officer, told the court that he recognised the accused and could recall on 16th September 2009.

According to him, on the day in question he received a case file of an alleged one million CFA theft involving the accused. He said the complainant reported that he went to City Pub to look for a woman, and as he was about to meet the lady, the accused came from behind, put his hand into his pocket and carted away with the money.

He adduced that with the assistance of others, the accused was apprehended and taken to the Serekunda Police Station.
According to him, during the struggle the accused had managed to pass on the money to somebody else.

He said when the accused was verbally interrogated, he denied the allegation.

The case presided over by Magistrate Mbacke was adjourned to 7th December 2009.
