Sixty pupils from Karin Nursery School in Bundung in the Kanifing Municipality recently received their graduation certificates at a ceremony held at the school’s premises in Bundung.
The guest speaker of the occasion, Yusuf Ehi, who is the proprietor of Advance Nursery and Lower Basic School in London Corner, said the school is one of his school’s partners within the region.
He advised the graduands that they should not be complacent as what they have achieved is just the first ladder of their education.
Mr Yusuf added that Early Childhood Development (ECD) is geared towards ensuring the holistic development of a child between the ages of 0-7, saying this is a crucial stage for the child, which needs quality care education and support.
He advised the outgoing pupils to respect their teachers wherever they go to further their education.
He also thanked parents for sending their kids to Karin Nursery School.
“We are not in the era of sending your child to sell in the street but we are in the era of sending your child to acquire knowledge so that he/she can better him/herself in future,” Mr Yusuf said.
”Children who received ECD education are discipline and it is more likely that they are to get better life than those who did not have,” Mr Yusuf told graduands.
Speaking earlier, the proprietor of Karin Nursery School said his school currently has an enrolment of 180 pupils, 80 of whom are boys and 100 are girls, with four teaching staff.
Karin said the school is striving hard to provide relevant and quality education for children in Bundung and its environment, noting that his school started operation in 1995.
The school, he went on, is using national standard of teaching methods, a thematic approach through Early Childhood Development (ECD).
He therefore expressed confidence that the graduating pupils could stand any pressure ahead of them in any school they may be.
“For the past years my school has faced many challenges, but with the understanding from the administration of my school we were able to overcome most of those challenges and I am sending my sincere thanks to the community of Bundung and the entire staff of the school for the support they have rendered to the school,” Mr Karin said.
The graduation ceremony was witnessed by parents and a cross-section of the community of Bundung.
