Imam
Ahmad Barrow, a 3-month old baby with cyanotic heart disease is in need of
urgent oveaseas cardiac surgery which is not available in The Gambia.
According
to the mediacal report, ECHO has shown a ventricular septal defect with
overriding aorta and his right chambers are larger than left.
The
right ventricular outflow track was not clearly visualised.
Imam
Ahmad requires continuous oxygen at 2 litres/minute to maintain his saturation
above 65% and he has an increased work of breathing
“He
is on maximal medical therapy with limited response and there is no cardiac
surgery available in the Gambia,” the medial report stated.
