3 Gambian journalists in Ghana for peace-building training

Three journalists working for different media outlets in the country last Friday left Banjul for the Ghanaian capital, Accra to attend a training workshop on the role of the media in conflict transformation and peace-building in West Africa.

Amie Sanneh (Foroyaa Newspaper), Momodou Edrissa Njie (News & Report Magazine) and Modou S. Joof (The Voice Newspaper) were selected to attend the programme after a rigorous selection process in Germany.

The Gambia Press Union (GPU) facilitated their participation at the training workshop.

Organised by the International Institute for Journalism (IIJ) of InWEnt Capacity Building International in Germany, the two-week programme is expected to deepen participants' understanding on the role of the media in fostering peace and security in West Africa.
