Premised on their heroic explorations at the recent African Youth Championship where they won two gold medals and set the African record, three Gambian athletes have been invited by the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) to take part in two separate meetings in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
According to sources close to the Gambia Athletics Association (GAA), Tijan Keita and Wandifa Sanneh, both sprinters in the 400metres, will run in the Ecowas Youth Athletics Championship on 26 and 27 April, while another Gambian, Adama Jammeh, who is currently among Gambian athletes training in Dakar, as the Independence Stadium undergoes repairs, is invited to run in the international athletics youth championship on 28 April again in Abidjan.
The athletes are due to leave for Abidjan on Thursday.
