The second
edition of Capital Cultural Carnival and Sports week organised by Joluv Arts,
in collaboration with Banjul Sports Committee, is set to get underway on
Thursday 26 December 2013.
The week-long sports event, which is in a form of zonal competition of the capital city, will include football, basketball and volleyball.
The sports week will see the capital city divided into four sporting zones: Banjul North, Banjul South, Banjul Central and Tobacco Road, who will face each other in the competition.
The competition involves all athletes from the three sporting disciplines (football, basketball and volleyball) with added spice of the professional players who will represent their zones.
According to the organisers, the 1st edition of this week-long carnival and sports week attracted over 20,000 to 30,000 people to the capital city, including the young and old, residents of Banjul and the Greater Banjul Area, tourists and holidaymakers.
The occasion serves as focal point to be throughout the Xmas week with a variety of culture and sports, the organisers added.
